In addition to being the vocalist and drummer, Thomas writes the lyrics for
Unforsaken's songs, as well as contributing a large amount of the music
writing.
Thomas began playing drums at the age of 8, playing in Sunday evening church
services by age 11, and later in the church youth meetings. In grade 8 and
throughout high school he also played in the school concert bands. By his
early teens, Thomas had begun to write lyrics, and started to learn guitar
at the age of 19 in order to assist in his music writing efforts. It was
around this time that he got serious about singing as well.
In the spring of 1993, Thomas and Jon met at a WhiteHeart concert, arranged
an audition, and formed the beginnings of Unforsaken. During a period in
which Unforsaken was temporarily disbanded, Thomas joined a band called Lost
Coin as lead vocalist, and then later engaged in a solo singing career,
which eventually led to joining back up with Jon to re-form Unforsaken.
Some of Thomas' musical influences include Rez, Bride, Petra, Idle Cure,
King's X, and Deliverance, and more recently Rob Rock, Impellitteri,
Helloween, and Gamma Ray.
